Of the record, vocalist Jem Siow says, “Writing Only One Mode felt like a chance to prove ourselves and write the best hardcore music we possibly could at this time.”

Speed

And that’s something that is very important to him. He elaborates on his love for the hardcore scene:

“It’s a subculture with an entry level that demands a much higher level of participation. Anyone really can be involved if they feel inclined to: Anyone can yell into a mic; anyone can take photos at a show; anyone can write a fan zine. Hardcore gives you the tools to contribute in many significant ways and I think it’s this level of accessibility which impassions the common kid to a higher degree. Also being a counter-cultural movement, naturally it attracts the freaks of society. I think when we finally find a place to belong that gives you a strong sense of ownership and identity.”
