Top 10 Albums of 2024: Zee Caine

This was a rough year, but at least we had music to get us through it all. In 2024, there have many great albums that been released, and narrowing it down to a top 10 list was really difficult but after long and hard consideration, these albums stood out to me as ones that deserved recognition.

Suspiro – Martin Gonzalez

This album was definitely an album that I had to add to the list, but trying to choose where it would be placed was the question at hand. It hs bounced around many placements, but it had ended at the 10th spot only due to the fact that there were so many others that I enjoyed more. I’ve been a fan of the animated series RWBY for many years, and in volume eight and nine of the show, Martin played a role within the music. It was really cool to see that and after listening to the music, it really felt like I was listening to something that would belong in the show or in an anime.

Exit Emotions – Blind Channel

When I first heard these guys on Octane with their single, “Deadzone,” it really stuck out to me. I was really grateful to have the honor of interviewing them and reviewing this album. It’s definitely one that I consider to be one of the best and trying to find a higher spot on this list was simply not possible for this one. It deeply saddens me that they are taking an indefinite hiatus in the new year.

Where Do We Go From Here? The Remixes EP – Asking Alexandria

This one might not be an album but back in 2023, when Where Do We Go From Here? dropped, I had it on repeat for like a month straight, and to hear the new remixed versions of the songs really had me fascinated and I loved every minute of the EP. Asking Alexandria have really delivered on this EP, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future.

Self Hell – While She Sleeps

Originally, I had no idea who While She Sleeps was, until I got introduced to them when I saw them live in May with Architects and Of Mice and Men. It was one hell of a performance, and it made me want to check out their latest album, Self Hell. After listening, I knew it was one of my favorites and definitely worth showing off.

The Surface Seems So Far – Seether

When it came to this album, it was a long overdue album, and to be able to say that I got to hear it early was something that I never thought to happen. I have been following Seether a very long time, and I’m grateful that I got to be able to hear it first. I was really amazed at the effort that was put into it.

The End Is Where We Begin (Reignited) – Thousand Foot Krutch

In my teen years, this album was one of my favorite records, and to hear it redone with many of my other favorite artists really helped me to mark it down in the top five on the list. To hear the newest renditions of the tracks that featured other artists I love such as The Funeral Portrait, Red, and Icon For Hire was really awesome. They did not disappoint with any of the tracks that have been released.

MEDZ – The Used

To hear The Used put out a new record was something that I was not expecting, but it was definitely welcome. I really enjoyed being able to hear this great album, and it’s definitely in amongst my rotation of songs I regularly listen to.

PAIN – Straight to the Vein

I have been listening to Straight to the Vein for a bit, and to see them put out this album is amazing. I was really glad to be one of the first people to hear it. From the moment that it starts to the ending, it really had me rocking out. They are a severely underrated artist who deserves more love!

LOST – FOR3ST HILLS

Getting to add LOST to my list of 2024 albums is really something I didn’t think that I would be able to do this year. I’m really glad that they delivered on this. It’s a shorter album but definitely one that deserves to be listened to more often. I’ve been following this band since late 2020, and to see them on the journey is quite fascinating. I’m grateful to be part of seeing them grow.

Greetings From Suffocate City – The Funeral Portrait

The Funeral Portrait have had a special spot in my life for the past two years and each time they released a new single, it’s been a favorite and immediately part of my main rotation of songs. When I got to hear them play it live in October, it was insane and a dream come true. I have been streaming this album nonstop since its release in September.
