Pittsburgh’s Gloomer proudly present their first single “Watching The Shore Fade Away” from their upcoming EP Cold Empty Heaven, which will be released through Head2Wall Records. The track was produced and engineered by the talented producer Matt Talbot, from Hum.

The band share their thoughts:
“Since the beginning, Gloomer has been about setting goals and achieving them as a collective. In 2022, we challenged ourselves to create a cohesive full-length album, and the result was Embrace the End—a deeply personal record exploring the fear and acceptance of losing a loved one. The overwhelming response, paired with an unforgettable tour, exceeded all our expectations and left us hungry to push even further.
“For this new release, we aimed to raise the bar, stepping outside our comfort zone in writing, recording, and collaboration. Being longtime fans of HUM, it was a dream come true to work with Matt Talbott at Earth Analog. Recording entirely in analog with Matt brought our vision to life, delivering a sound that’s immense, raw, and what Matt calls ‘vibey.’
“While some themes from ‘Embrace the End’ resonate throughout this EP, the overarching message is different: Life is a wave of emotions and challenges, but peace can still be found amidst the chaos. Our first single, ‘Watching The Shore Fade Away,’ embodies this sentiment. It reminds listeners that it’s okay to step back, tune out the noise, and take the time you need to center yourself.”
The record label also share their thoughts:
“Barely a year after the release of their debut full length, Embrace The End, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Gloomer are back with an absolutely crushing, mesmerizing EP, pushing the specific brand of heavy shoegaze that they have been carefully honing for the last few years further than ever.
“Permeated by a subtle, constant sense of longing and loneliness, this cold, rust belt entry into the long line of effects-soaked, riffy post-hardcore records is truly compelling. Produced and engineered by master and pioneer of the genre from which they’ve descended, the legendary Matt Talbott of Hum, at his Earth Analog studios, Gloomer have provided the perfect historical context for their undeniably unique take on this sound.”
