Dirty Jersey ska veterans Hub City Stompers return with their latest offering Drinking Rage which dropped on December 6 on Jump Start Records. Drawing from every era of ska from rocksteady to traditional ska to 2-tone to ska-punk, the new record offers up a little something for every type of ska fan. The album has already been making waves in the ska scene on the heels of the first single “Bloodstream,” and today, they debut their latest video for the song “The Short But Brilliant Life of Seymour Baruch.”
Drawing from some of the oldest traditions of ska, this track already feels like a ska classic despite having just been released. It’s got everything that made the early days of The Slackers and even The Specials stand out so much, while still having one foot in the modern ska era. The bizarre, black-and-white, almost David Lynchian music video depicts a frustrated old man, Seymour Baruch, dealt a raw deal by life and finding his way out alive somehow. The grainy film quality adds to the feel that this is a song and video that’s been around a long time. Check out the video below.
